Recently a woman in Church approached me saying “I have a picture that I want to share with you, and I don’t know if you accept that kind of thing, but I will share and you can decide whether it is from God or not.”
Needless to say I honestly appreciated that gesture. I have never had someone say anything to me that was specific to my walk with Christ.
So here is what she shared. She said that she saw me and that I had shackles around my feet. She didn’t see them around my wrists or anywhere else, but said that Christ was undoing the shackles to free me from whatever it was. She then said…”I dunno…it’s like…something is holding you back.”
Needless to say, I thought this would be a good post for today. While I don’t fully know what this means yet, I was instructed not to think about it too much, but to ask God instead. It would be so easy to pick and choose what this could be in my life and screw up things that had nothing to do with what God is trying to teach me.
I looked up the word “shackle” as it pertains to scripture and the only accounts those exact words were used, were in Mark, Psalm, and Job. Job refers to being out of favor with God and burdened. Psalm as well, and Mark’s story refers to the man who was possessed by “Legion.”
None of these sounded like fun things.
Needless to say, there are things that all of us are chained to, whether a job, comfort, fear, a person, our own selfishness…the list is endless. Regardless of what these things are…the interesting picture I was given was that we have the ability to chain ourselves, but only Christ has the key to unlocking these chains. The only way for us to be set free is to know the truth. Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. So in order to be free of anything, we have to know Him more.
That is what I intend to do as He reveals what is holding me back. I take comfort in the fact that the end of the “picture” that this woman saw, was that Christ was undoing my chains. I just need to be still and let Him do His work, and trust that everything will be ok.
Whatever has you bound today, let it go and try for one day, to just trust God fully… and see what awesomeness He blesses you with.
