I bet you’re thinking I’m about to write a post to all the Christian ladies that are looking for a Godly man…
Men, here’s another challenge for you….get ready.
While I’m sure girls need to hear that their “hero” has already come for them and demonstrated the most perfect kind of love, they are not the ones that need to hear it the most.
Men often think that they have to “stand in” for Christ until he returns to this earth. There is a mentality that says we have to “take his place” while we live on this earth. While we are to imitate Him as best as we can, we are never supposed to “take His place” in someone else’s life. So many arguments lead to a couple trying to figure out how to either handle things individually or placing burdens on one another that only Christ can carry.
Sometimes the best answer you can give your girlfriend or wife is “I love you, and I think it Jesus wants some time with you/me before we spend our day together.”
What’s also interesting is that we think girls are the only one that need someone to come in on a white horse to save them….
News flash guys:
Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
We need a “knight in shining armor” too. That being said, if we are to love like Christ loves the Church…we have to follow His instructions and do so regardless of the situation.
So men, while these verses talk about Marriage and how to serve, they are tools to practice as you continue through life. Just because it says to honor and love your wife, doesn’t mean you can ignore the responsibility to honor and love the one you are pursuing/courting. Yes there are different kinds of “love” but remember, what you practice is what you become good at. If you practice breaking up with every girl you are with, then it will be much easier for you to contemplate divorce.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church
1 Peter 4:10-11
10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Real men love the women in their lives with honor, integrity, truth, and the fullness of God’s grace and mercy. Real men stand and fight through the difficult times. Real men love Jesus and will keep Him first.
Boys love with their eyes, their words, and their empty promises. Boys run at the first sign of trouble. Boys love themselves and what satisfaction they can get out of an instant.
So what do you think a woman, daughter of the king of the universe and therefore royalty, would prefer?
It’s time to be MEN and leave the days of boy-like “swag” behind and trade it in for Honor, Truth, Love and (most importantly) Christ.
This is what women should be looking for. So give them something to hope for in Christ. Prince Charming doesn’t exist, but the Prince of Peace does. Model the correct Prince and treat the women in your life like the Princesses they truly are.
