Rejected Love: Normal vs Not Normal

rejected love

Contrary to popular [worldly] belief, a Man of God’s job is not to win the heart of a woman. His job is to become the chief guard of his wife’s heart, always pointing to Christ so that when He returns to reclaim us, He may find a world full of hearts that are beating for Him.

What’s sad is that from generation to generation, we have become so diluted with sin, that we have created a new standard of what is normal and what is not. Mankind chose to reject the standards of God for the standards of the world, and we now call that normal.

We hear phrases like death is a “part of life” and we don’t even think twice at how false that statement is. What the world is really saying is that death is normal. Yet we know that before sin entered into the equation….LIFE was normal.

The problem is that even Christians buy into the ideas of the World while still trying to hold fast to what Jesus said. Let’s take a look at a few things the world says is true and what Jesus says is true.

The World

  • Your value comes from measurable success and achievement
  • Physical appearance is what matters most
  • Men are all the same so don’t aim too high. Settle for “good enough”
  •  Women are objects and want to be treated as such
  • There’s no time [for God]
  • There’s always time [to get to God later]

Jesus

  • Our value comes from Christ. He gave his own life in exchange for ours….because it was worth that much to Him (Romans 8:32)

  • Physical appearance matters nothing compared to spiritual appearance. Even Jesus was “ordinary” in appearance. (Isaiah 53:2)

  • Men of God are those who will raise standards…not meet them. (1 Timothy 6:11)

  • Women of God are priceless. They are designed to be loved, not taken advantage of. (Proverbs 31:10 & Ephesians 5:25)

  • God holds time in HIS hands. We don’t. (Colossians 1:17)

The world lies to people all the time in order to create a sense of accomplishment. If we can do enough, then maybe, just maybe we will be good enough. We forget that Jesus has already settled the debt we owed to sin and that THE MOST VALUABLE LIFE in all of existence, the life of the SON OF GOD was given as ransom for us. There is nothing of greater worth.

Even Jesus says so:

No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. John 15:13

While we were still sinners, in the midst of our own sinful nature, He died for us on a cross. What’s even more astounding is that He modeled for us how ever man is supposed to love His wife. If men were to follow this example, we wouldn’t have divorce. We wouldn’t have competition between men and women as to who they should date etc. because there would be honor and sacrifice allowing for each man to have his own wife and each wife their own husband.

Men and women spend time working on fleeting physical appearances beyond the point of merely being healthy. All of this because the world has told us that the reason we are unloved, is because of our outward appearance. Men have fed into this and have even driven this, causing so much devastation in the lives of other men and many more women on this earth. So when a real man or woman of God shows up on the scene, many on this earth don’t know how to react. Naturally the response to something we don’t understand is: rejection. The world is teaching us to reject what used to be normal and replace it with temporary satisfaction.

So much of what was simple and true has been turned it into a difficult battle of works. The problem is…because of sin there are no riches, works, goods, deeds, etc. that can pay for the consequences of our sin (death). At the end of our numbered years each man/woman will lose their earthly bodies to sin’s deterioration and eventually it will lead to physical death.

Jesus is the only one who has overcome death, sin, and the entire weight of God’s wrath. The most valuable and precious being, joined His spirit to ours so that we might know Him and be with Him one day. He did so also to give us eternal value and a price tag that reads: priceless. He did not come to give us a measurable value but immeasurable value.

So why do we believe the world? Why is it a shock to a woman that she is valued above rubies and pearls? Why does she reject unwarranted or unconditional love? Why do men refuse to lead? Why don’t men honor and respect others? Why don’t men love their wives like they are supposed to?

Because the world told them that it wasn’t normal. It’s time to recognize and accept the creator’s Word as normal and as truth, rather than believing creation’s lies.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Romans 12:2

The world is dying. The world doesn’t know what is normal.

Jesus is everlasting. He is infinitely more trustworthy than a temporary world.
