Keep Walking

keep-walking

Isaiah 42:11

English Standard Version (ESV)

11 Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice,
the villages that Kedar inhabits;
let the habitants of Sela sing for joy,
let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Psalm 23:4

English Standard Version (ESV)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

Whether we are shouting for joy on the top of a mountain, or proclaiming His name while walking through the valley of the shadow of death…we are both commanded to STAND firm on the promises that God has made, and RUN the race that is before us.

To put it simply, we are to armor up and keep walking.

Several times throughout the year, Christian conferences/meetings/gatherings are held in order to lift High the name of Jesus and unite the body to a particular cause. Many followers drink in the emotional high of the moment and then when they walk away…forget who they are.

James 1:22-24

English Standard Version (ESV)

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

The truth is, once you have an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, choose to return Him to the throne of your life and allow Him to lead, you cannot stay the same. Even if your life bears no fruit, the knowledge that Christ is real (even if you reject Him) will stay with you the rest of your life.

His word does NOT come back void.

There is no reason to walk along the fence between life and death when God has offered the fullness of joy and abundance of life. Do not listen to the word of God and then return to your former ways. This world is full of distractions that steal our focus. If you take notice of your own speech, you will realize that you get tired, depressed, lonely, defeated, etc. when you are focused on all that you think YOU have to do. When you focus on yourself…everything is exhausting. In fact, I dare say that focusing on yourself gives you a minor taste of the power of death. Exhaustion and weakness set in right before utter defeat. However, once our focus returns to the one who breathes life, the one who loves us beyond comprehension, that’s when we feel revitalized, renewed, and strong.

Ironic? I don’t think so.

My challenge to anyone that happens to be reading this post (including myself) is that you would walk with Christ, live in truth, and trade fear for boldness. Go and tell others of the wonderful things He has done and do so without fear of man.
